Dragon Creek Demo Week One Review
Boy howdy! I am exhausted! But I cant stop working, because the game is getting so much better, and the discord community is constantly suggesting good ideas and finding bugs.
This week was a bug hunt, and a small feature adding marathon. Bloom options, screenshake toggle, sprint toggle, audio and minigame fixes, soft lockpicking, and game balance were all touched. If you want to see more, check out the discord or the patch notes!
Early on testers were having trouble with being able to afford food. So a few changes were made to make this easier.
You can forage food from the ranch, like mushrooms in the spring or apples in the fall. These are unlimited, but you have to run around the ranch to find them.
You earn gold from minigames now. Its not a lot, but it can buy food!
Battles give you more money, and they happen more than once a week.
Shops now have half-off discounts on different days of the week.
The tutorial gives you some food as well.
These fixes seemed to iron out the early game starvation that was hurting players.
I've made the food that the grocery store sells seasonal, to motivate players to visit at different times of the year.
The barn door was a big source of confusion for players(still is on occasion) so I went in and rewrote a lot of code to allow more leeway with walking inside.
I've made a lot of changes to the tutorial so it isnt a ton of text, but it also explains things like how to change your outfit and how to exit menus.
This is just a small sample of everything that changed this week. A lot of great stuff that was suggested has yet to be implemented though, so watch in the coming weeks for major content patches.
